The use of rituals for breaking curses and the practice of counter-magic, either self-employed or by means of a specialist, is a still very alive in the Balkan region. These kind of rituals are implied in different cases as when someone is plagued by family disputes and bickering, when the marriage is crumbling, by strange or too often sicknesses etc. Some of the practiced methods for breaking magic are very archaic and show parallels to rituals practiced in ancient times. Along with these folklore relicts nowadays are used also modern or/and modernized rituals for the same purposes. Despite the specific form of the applied ritual practices they all are representing the persistent belief in the power of supernatural evil.
