Mainstream religions continue to lose congregations in the 21st century. Part of the problem is the layers of bureacracy that shield the upper levels of the hierarchical structure from the view of the average worshiper as well as the boots-on-the-ground clergyperson. The concept of finding a lasting connection to the Divine/s outside of these top-heavy structures is what the Feral Church movement is all about. And the centering of Goddess/Goddesses in the heart of the community opens new doors to older concepts of a nurturing, powerful Female Divine.
