She has been called the Tree of Life, and without trees our planet could not sustain life. Goddesses who are associated with specific trees are found in many cultures throughout time. The Norse goddess Freya is associated with the sycamore, the goddess Diana with the oak, to the ancient Egyptians She was called, “The Lady of the Sycamore.” To the ancient Canaanites She was the goddess Asherah, and to the Celts, the Birch Tree was known as the White Lady, the Mother of the Forest. This talk will explore many other goddesses associated with trees as an ancient symbol and metaphor for the living Tree of Life.
