Circe was a goddess of sorcery, from the Greek word “pharmakeia,” who was skilled in the magic of transmutation, illusion, and necromancy. Circe’s name is derived from the Greek verb kirkoô, meaning “to secure with rings” or “hoop around,” a reference to the binding power of magic. According to research found at Theoi, she wasn’t considered a goddess by many authors but an immortal witch instead, and by this statement, she became one of the figures who represent witches in mythology. This workshop will cover her history, myths, and how to incorporate her teachings within our craft. The poison path, astrology, and incantations are some of the topics we will discuss in class.
