Our Lady of the Magical: The Virgin Mary for Occultists

We find the Virgin Mary in the African diasporic religions, pagan, and magical groups as an avatar or symbol of the Divine Feminine. She is powerful but not the Mary revered by Catholic and Orthodox Christians throughout the ages. The Catholic Church has done Mary an injustice by stripping her of the might and prestige attributed to her in the Middle Ages. She has been downgraded from the prophetic singer of the Magnificat to a passive and bland role model for girls.

Dr. Espinosa holds a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from a Pontifical Institute. This class will place Mary in her role as Universal Mother, found not in church but in the deep places in the ground and the darkness of the night. Attendees will be introduced to:

• Our Lady of Nature: The Mary who is discovered in trees, caves, and holy wells.
  
• Our Lady Underground: The so-called “Black Virgins” who represent the fertile dark earth that produces our daily nourishment.
  
• Our Lady of the Esoteric: Ley lines, sacred geometry, pre-Christian temples, and Mary's holy places.
  
• Our Lady of Wonders: The Virgin Mary as healer, liberator, and ally for all people, not just good Catholics.
  
• Our Lady Defender: The avatars of the Virgin Mary who protects from invasion (Our Lady of the Rosary), storms (Our Lady of Prompt Succor of New Orleans), and floods (Our Lady of Guadalupe).
  

Dr. Espinosa will also discuss rosary spells, Marian candle magic, and finding the right image of the Virgin Mary for all situations.
