The Clavicula Salomonis—more commonly known as The Key of Solomon, The Greater Key of Solomon, or The Key of Solomon the King—is one of the most famous and influential grimoires in the Western magical tradition. This class focuses specifically on the Greater Key, not the books of the Lemegeton or Lesser Key of Solomon, and is intended for students who want to better understand what this powerful Solomonic text is actually saying.

The Key of Solomon is loaded with ritual instruction, consecrations, conjurations, pentacles, tools, prayers, timing rules, purifications, and magical procedures. Yet for many readers, the text is difficult to approach. Its instructions are scattered in a notoriously confusing layout, its diagrams and pentacles appear in places that can feel almost random, and its archaic language can obscure what would otherwise be clear ritual directions. The result is a book that is both profoundly important and deeply frustrating.

In this class, Poppa Capp will guide students through the structure, language, and ritual logic of the Key of Solomon in plain, understandable terms. We will pick apart the contents of the grimoire, examine what the text is really asking the magician to do, and explore practical ways to navigate its difficult sequencing. Special attention will be given to the rituals, conjurations, tools, preparations, purifications, pentacles, and operative instructions that make the Key such a central work of ceremonial magic.

By the end of the class, students will have a clearer map of the grimoire, a better grasp of its ritual system, and greater confidence approaching one of the most powerful and well-known magical books in history.
