The Witch at the Gate: Magic, Compassion, and the Incarcerated

Witches have always been guardians of thresholds—keepers of the spaces where transformation begins. This class is designed for witches who feel called to serve those behind the walls, offering guidance, ritual support, and spiritual empowerment to incarcerated witches and Wiccans seeking connection, healing, and hope.

We will explore the lineage of witches who opened the way before us: Patrick McCollum, whose work helped secure religious rights for incarcerated witches; Rev. Paul Beyerl, whose ministry brought compassion and structure to those practicing the Craft in confinement; and Queen Lady Passion, whose fierce advocacy ensured that imprisoned witches were not forgotten. We will also look at organizations such as the Aquarian Tabernacle Church Prison Ministry, the Lady Liberty League, and the many solitary witches who send letters, books, and ritual guidance into carceral spaces.

This path is deeply personal to Harold Sanford Carter III. He spent 15 years in and out of the American prison system. Harold broke the cycle of recidivism through witchcraft, earth‑based spirituality, and the disciplines that rebuilt his spirit when the world believed he could not rise.
